The Rad-Titans are the wasteland's ultimate survivors, a new breed of humanity forged in atomic fire. Where others perish, they prosper. Their bodies reject radiation like water off stone, their muscles hardened by years of brutal adaptation. These hulking warriors carve out territories in lands others call deadlands, ruling through raw strength and unbreakable will. To encounter a Rad-Titan is to stand before the future of a world that only respects power.
PLAYING a Rad-Titan
The rad-titan species as a whole is naturally very physically strong and are at home on the front lines in combat. The majority of rad-titans reside in places that most other species consider to be completely uninhabitable, limiting their contact with other societies, thus most rad-titans think and act very differently than other wastelanders, and this can cause them a lot of issues. You will need to prepare yourself to play very differently with this character due to rad-titan species rules that are very different from most species. While many non-player characters will treat you with the respect that any wastelander is capable of earning, some will treat you with suspicion and others with outright fear. Some wastelanders might rely on rad-titans as protectors or enforcers but distrust their volatile nature. Rad-Titans naturally form hierarchies based on strength, but loyalty is fierce once earned. As a player of this species, you are not required to act in this way, as there are exceptions to every society, but other members of your species you might encounter will most often act in these ways.
Rad-titans do not feel pain in the same way that humans do. Pain is really just tactile feedback to them, as opposed to an emergency warning system for their bodies. This can lead to them fighting beyond their limits.
PERKS
Rad-Titans start the game with 100 XP to spend on general perks.
SPECIES POWERS
- Rad-Titans start with 3 [[health flags]]. Rad-Titans have a [[health cap]] of 10 instead of the normal 5.
- Rad-Titans have +1 Strength, and +1 Endurance.
- Rad-Titans characters do not have [[limit flags]]. Instead, a rad-titan character uses their [[health flags]] in place of limit flags. Any time they would [[pull]], [[burn]] or lose a [[limit flag]], they instead [[pull]], [[burn]] or lose a health flag.
- Rad titans count as [[fresh]] if they have all of their health flags equipped, and [[spent]] when they are [[wounded]].
- Perks, abilities and items that restore [[limit flags]] have no effect on rad-titan characters. Perks, abilities and items that grant the ability to equip extra [[limit flags]] grant [[health flags]] instead.
- Rad-Titans are [[Immune]] to radiation and anytime they are given a radiation bracelet, they are [[immediately]] hit with [[regen]]. Any radiation bracelets you receive are [[immediately]] stored in your out-of-game bag and returned to game ops.
- When a rad-titan loses their last [[health flag]], they are not [[downed]], and may continue to act. While they have no [[health flags]] equipped they are [[wounded]]. If they take any damage when they have no [[health flags]] equipped, they [[immediately]] become [[dying]], skipping over becoming [[downed]]. If they lose [[dying]] (being hit with [[revive]] as an example) they become [[downed]] as normal.
- As a rad-titan, your instincts push you toward confrontation. You are not mindlessly violent, but your biology and culture treat dominance, intimidation, and physicality as natural first responses. When playing a rad-titan, you [[must]] adhere to the following guidelines to the best of your ability:
- You lose yourself in battle. When you take damage during an encounter, or one of your party members is downed during an encounter, you must continue making aggressive actions (attacks, abilities that cause damage, etc) towards anyone you consider an enemy until the end of the encounter and may not retreat from the battle for the remainder of the encounter or until you become wounded. If your enemy flees, you do not need to pursue them. If you are unable to harm any enemy in the encounter, you do not need to continue your aggression.
- You cannot back down from a direct challenge. If another character physically threatens you (steps into your personal space, draws a weapon on you, or insults your strength), you must respond with intimidation or aggression. This can include roaring, posturing, or issuing a challenge, but does not require immediately attacking.
- You must escalate before de-escalating. If a conflict arises (an argument, a theft, a territorial dispute, etc.), your first reaction must be aggressive (yelling, cracking your knuckles, slamming your fist on a table). After this display, you can choose to negotiate or walk away—but only after establishing dominance.
- You cannot ignore physical insults. If someone hits you (even with [[no damage]]), you must retaliate in kind unless you are restrained or outnumbered. If the attack comes from a trusted ally it is up to you how you respond.
- You are loyal. If you are a member of a party, your party leader can order you to stand down and this will allow you to stop any aggression you are required to perform in the guidelines above.
- Rad-Titans can benefit from 2 food buffs at a time.
LIMIT RECOVERY
- Rad-Titan characters can recover [[health flags]] by resting. The default rest time for a rad-titan is 20 minutes, but can be altered by perks.
- Rad-Titan characters can recover [[health flags]] by fighting. At the end of an encounter in which the rad-titan [[drops]] an opponent, they may [[immediately]] [[regen]].
COSTUMING REQUIREMENTS
Rad-titans [[must]] wear some sort of set horns prop on their head. These horns can be of any design other than antlers. Rad-titans [[must]] wear some sort of protruding lower fangs or teeth. These can be as large or small as you want, but [[must]] be visible when your mouth is closed.
